I have just returned from seeing the most important american film so far this year.

It is IMPERERTIVE that every American who gives a damn about this country see this film.

The powers that put the lying, theiving traitor in the office of the president in 2000 will not want you to see this film-they have already filed lawsuits to shut it down. They have already put their enourmous PR machine to work to discredit both the film and the people involved in the making of the film.

That such an EVIL man and the powers behind him should be allowed to walk freely while hundreds are detained without charge is a travesty of justice.

GO SEE FAHRENHEIT 9/11!!!!

RE: Fahrenheit 9/11 MUST SEE!!

Total agreement with BGiP, this is a must see movie!

I laughed, clapped , and cried. Holy smokes folks, this clever piece of work by Moore (all the way down to the sound track) will evoke all emotions. The audience I was in gave an ovation while the credits rolled.

WARNING: This is not a feel-good flick.

That's the problem with THEY, THEY are always doing things like that. By the way, who is THEY? The right-wing conspiracy is so vast it is hard to keep track of them. Last time I checked, the only thing THEY had done was file a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, which hardly qualifies as a lawsuit. But with all the stuff going on underneath judges' robes these days, nothing THEY do would surprise me.

This is the best way to put all of this into perspective: Michael Moore is the liberals' Rush Limbaugh. I enjoy the show that both of them can put on -- but only for fifteen minutes at a time.

Big Guy:

I also saw F911 today and I can see why the Bushies would like to bury this film. Those in attendance erupted into applause as the movie ended. I'll grant that many in attendance were probably already predisposed against Bush & Company, but this film really pulls a lot of things together. As I was leaving the theatre, I stopped by the client relations desk and thanked them for showing it. The manager said, "I'm glad you enjoyed the movie". I told him "enjoy" was the wrong word, but that I definitely appreciated the fact that this movie was made. I hope lots of fence-sitters see this film. If they do, I think Dubya will be toast.

not true, michael moore is a decent honest man. on the other hand limbaugh is a liar,a doper, has multible marriages (so much for his family values),and has shown he cares about nothing but himself.

but hell in the republicans world of double speak...maybe his being so scummy is the reason they (the right wing nuts}like limbaugh,he reflects the lack of moral strength that is so obivious in many of the right wing wingers.

I also saw the F9/11 Movie this afternoon. It was entertaining and disturbing all at the same time.

I already knew most of what Michael Moore put together, but it was still powerful.

I went to a suburban theatre and it was packed. They also applauded at the end. We were surprised at how many young people were there. I did not expect as many high school and college age young people. That was encouraging. And I guess it's their asses the Chicken Hawks in Wasington want to send to Iraq. I am from the Viet Nam era, so now that I think about it, I guess I do understand the passion of the young people.

That gets back to the question of whether artists should be judged by their work, or by their personal lives. And in comparing Moore and Limbaugh, it's really a question of looking at the personas they have created. Each one is marketing that product to a large audience, and each is making millions doing it while further inflating his ego by exercising some political influence.

I think we have to watch out for both of them.

Ah, but there’s the rub. Do you really think many fence-sitters will see it? Believe me, I love a good Bush roast as much as the next liberal, but I think there is a HUGE preaching-to-the-choir aspect to this movie.

Clinton would be a bad comparison because I love the guy, but let’s take Gore, someone I’m lukewarm about and could be considered sitting on the fence. I would not go see a movie that I knew was just going to trash him anymore than I would go see something that was nothing but praise. Moore doesn’t claim his movie is balanced, so why would I go see something like that to help me off the fence?

I’m hoping there is some good done simply by all the news coverage of the movie. (Big mistake for the conservatives to create all this press coverage by trying to shut it down.) I laugh every time they show the clip where he gives his little terrorist speech on the golf course. His face all pinched with seriousness, and then wham, all that is forgotten…Everyone watch me golf! Whether it’s an accurate representation of his attention span or not, it makes him look like a complete dolt. You gotta love it.

I think the real priceless moments are when Bush is in the classroom reading "The Pet Goat" with the kiddies and sitting there with weird facial expressions for a full seven minutes after learning that the WTC and nation were under attack, and the weird, gross disgusting shot of Paul Wolfowitz sucking on his comb and then combing his hair with it. These people are truly freaks.

Guest Jocoluver

I was most "stunned" at the opening when not one Senator would support the black challenges to certification of the election results.

I thought I would come out of the movie enraged.

No, I came out sickened and sad at what has been done to our beloved nation.

and I fear, as powerful as the movie is (especially the latter part with the woman from Flint MI whose son was killed in Iraq), it will not have a decisive or lasting effect come some October "surprise" from the rightwingers.

Theater soldout, long ovation by audience during the credits.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Bush-bashing became the nation's favorite spectator sport over the weekend as Michael Moore's red-hot documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" earned more in its first three days of release across North America than his previous record-breaking movie did in its entire run.

According to studio estimates issued on Sunday, "Fahrenheit 9/11," in which Moore takes aim at President Bush, and the war in Iraq, opened at No. 1 after selling about $21.8 million worth of tickets in the United States and Canada since June 25.

The Political 'Fahrenheit' Sets Record at Box Office

By SHARON WAXMAN

Published: June 28, 2004

LOS ANGELES, June 27 — Michael Moore's anti-Bush "Fahrenheit 9/11" became the highest-grossing documentary of all time on its first weekend in release, taking in $21.8 million as it packed theaters across the country this weekend...

"We sold out in Fayetteville, home of Fort Bragg," in North Carolina, Mr. Moore said on Sunday. "We sold out in Army-base towns. We set house records in some of these places. We set single-day records in a number of theaters. We got standing ovations in Greensboro, N.C.

"The biggest news to me this morning is this is a red-state movie," he said, referring to the state whose residents voted for George W. Bush in the 2000 election. "Republican states are embracing the movie, and it's sold out in Republican strongholds all over the country."...

Mr. Weinstein predicted that "Fahrenheit 9/11" would certainly take in $50 million, and possibly $100 million. He said he expected the film to expand to twice as many theaters next week, and ultimately to be on as many as 2,000 screens, a scale that would redefine the traditional reach of documentary films...

And this from a neighbor of mine:

I went into the theater Friday night to see "Fahrenheit 9/11, '' filled with anticipation and glee at the thought of having a few laughs at the president's expense.

Sure, there were a few laughs, but I spent most of the more than two hours fighting back, and then giving in to tears. Tears of horror, shame, embarrassment and sorrow at the actions of our country, the vile company our leaders keep, the deaths of innocent civilians and the maiming and killing of our soldiers. I am sickened and devastated.

You can call it propaganda, you can call it skillful manipulation, but what you can't call it is lies. Michael Moore did not create footage of the Bushes and the Saudi royal family, he did not put words in the mouths of U.S. soldiers, an actress did not play a woman who has now lost her son in Iraq. All these things are true, they are happening and I am not laughing.

Hi, I'm a liberal who was against the war in Iraq and who hates George Bush.

There was a movie made by another liberal who was also against the war in Iraq and who hates George Bush.

The movie is about how bad the war in Iraq was and how evil George Bush is.

And I went to see this movie! And guess what? I loved this movie!

And not only that, but my friends are also liberals who were against the war in Iraq and who hate George Bush. And they also went to see this movie. And guess what? They loved the movie, too!

And for some reason, I think that these facts are really significant.

And, for some reason, I think that it's supposed to somehow matter that some movie that spouts propoganda which reflects all of the views that I already had is a movie that I think is really good.

And oh - did I mention how stupid I think all those Christians are who went to see Mel Gibson's Passion and really loved it - I mean, what mindless sheep they are- going to see a movie that does nothing but reflects views they already hold and then they talk about how great it is.

Thank God I'm not like them.

As Moore said in the Times article linked above, "The biggest news to me this morning is this is a red-state movie," he said, referring to the state whose residents voted for George W. Bush in the 2000 election. "Republican states are embracing the movie, and it's sold out in Republican strongholds all over the country."...

"Red states" refer to states in which a majority of people vote for the Republican candidate. In those states, there are lots and lots and lots and lots of Democrats and liberals. New York, for instance, is a blue state even though millions of Republicans live in that state. "Red states" is not a designation for states in which there are no Democrats.

Thus, the fact that isolated movie theaters in so-called "red states" are selling out on the first weekend this movie is shown is hardly evidence that Republicans are seeing, let alone liking, this movie.

If this is the type of "reasoning" which Moore and his followers employ -- "People in red states are seeing the film, therefore Republicans are seeing it" -- then it is no wonder that even many liberals are embarrassed that he has become the representative of the liberal cause (for an excellent discussion by a very thoughtful liberal as to why Moore is such a disgrace to liberals, see liberal blogger Kevin Drum's discussion of the film at http://www.washingtonmonthly.com).

And the hypocrite of the day award goes to Doug69!

Lest anyone has forgotten, a few months back, Doogie was whining and pissing and moaning about how anyone could ever compare Bush to Hitler. Now that the Republicans are comparing John Kerry to Hitler on none other than the RNC website, Doogie is predictably silent.

Of course, it warms my heart to see that Fahrenheit911 has your republican bowels in an uproar. Keep on spewing that Republican bile, Doogie. It's clearly what you do best.

(1) Gratifying to see conservatives, including Deaniac libertarians viz. our correspondent above, so exercised by F9/11 because they understand its attributes are those that made Reagan (thus Clinton) such powerful & effective politicians. Doug accurately assesses the movie in form, but represses his understanding of its effect on swing voters: 'loose, swinging meat' ('Aye, and Gomorrah', Samuel R Delaney).

(2) You show you have not been to Fayetteville, NC. I have: The seat of Fort Bragg is a regimented place. As all seats should be. But 9/11 sellout there is a bellwether for the election, fret all you want.

Actually, I think the exact amount, according to data I've found online, is just "lots and lots and lots," not "lots and lots and lots and lots." But I won't quibble. :p

I finally saw F911 today. My only question is, why isn't there any kind of out cry from the public damnading the impeachment and removal of Bush and his cabinet? Most of what was in the Doc I already knew. But much of America still had their heads in the "Patriotic Sand" prior to the release of the movie. They still stood behind Bush because he is a "War Time" President. But now people everywhere know who and what Bush is. He is a criminal, he is a murderer and he is a liar.

For the record, during the credits, people aplauded the work of Mr. Moore. We laughed together, we cried together and some of the people walked out with a new understanding of what the Republican party is really all about. It's all about money to them. It doesn't matter to them if our sons and daughters (Or in our cases, nieces and nephews) die to yield a few extra million bucks for the conservative party supporters. It doesn't matter to them that Iraqi innocent citizens are being killed, imprisoned and abused. Only money matters to them.

The Bush administration lied to Ameerica about everything. They hyped the terrorist threat post 9/11 to bring American voter's support to his campaign for war.

I cried many times during this Doc. I grieved with many of the people on there who loss loved ones. I also sheded tears of anger.

I think the most difficult thing for me to watch though was the Iraqi woman who was crying and begging for God's help. Her feelings were real, her grief was unbearable to watch. Her loss and pain was a very small representation of what the Iraqi people have had to endure thanks to the Bush Clan.

I honestly think Iraq was a better place before the Bushes. Yes, they had a dictator and yes he was often abusive to his people. But at least they were all alive. Now thousands have died and for what???

Finally, I still have one question...... WHERE IS BIN LADDEN???? Why haven't we done anything to try and catch him??? Because maybe, just maybe the terrorist act on 9/11 was also part of the Bush plan. The Bin Ladden family and the Bush family were close business partners. Does it really make sense that Osama would attack the USA while his family is hip deep in the President's personal business affairs? I cannot see how that would make any sense. I find it also very interesting that we quickly gave swift and safe passage to his relatives after 9/11 without even questioning them. Could it be that Bush wanted to get them out of the country before the press got to them? Why would he want them gone?

What hurts the most, is that our tax dollars, paid for murder. You, me and everyone we know paid for the deaths of all those young soldiers who died. We also paid for the killing of all the Irqi men women and children who loss their lives in this war. It is a shame I will never get over.

What role did this administration play in the 9/11 disaster? I fear we will never know. But you gotta wonder.......

Most Iraqis would agree with you

Somewhat wrong

25.7%

Absolutely wrong

33.5%

>Finally, I still have one question...... WHERE IS BIN

>LADEN???? Why haven't we done anything to try and catch

>him???

What difference does it make? Do you really think the growing hatred of America in the Muslim world depends on just one man? Michael Moore and George Bush exploit the same American character fault: We want simple answers for complex problems. Bin Laden is irrelevant. Either that, or he's a hydra -- cut off his head (the military literally took an ice chest to Afghanistan, when Bush said to a general, "Bring me the head of bin Laden") and nine more leaders will pop up.

What do you propose we do to catch him? Invade Pakistan and kill hundreds of civilians who might get in the way? That's another inconsistency in Moore's message -- war is bad, but Bush is not ruthless enough when it comes to tracking down bin Laden.

>What hurts the most, is that our tax dollars, paid for murder.

Nah, it's all done with deficit financing. Won't be paid for until we're long gone.

Just remember --- THE BULGARIANS STILL LOVE US! (Well, at least the Christian Bulgarians. Most of the Muslims left for Turkey, anyway.)

Because, so FAR there is NOTHING that can be used as grounds for impeachment? It there was, don't you think that the Democrats would have used such grounds, and done just that?

>Bush is. He is a criminal, he is a murderer and he is a liar.

No, he so far has not been PROVED to be a criminal, and he is no more of a "murderer" than ANY OTHER president who advanced his political agenda!

Is the fact that he is a "liar" so eye opening an experience for you? Aren't MOST politicians, especially on the national level liars, and less than "moral"? How in the HELL do you think they were able to get to the national level, otherwise?

Sorry to burst your pretty pink bubble, but they are ALL liars and will sell out their integrity to make it to Senator much less President! Can't deal with that? Then, Please go play with your Barbie dolls in their pretty little pink Corvettes!

Are you 10 years old? It took a movie of spliced together, "out of context", statements and interviews skewered to portray that VERY FACT for you to realize the truth? Where have you been living your life, so far, under a rock? Perhaps, if you spent 1/10 of the effort to read about/understand the history of the world and the politics that drive it, as you spend on hedonisitic pursuits, you wouldn't need such a "contrived" movie to educate you!

>

>I honestly think Iraq was a better place before the Bushes.

>Yes, they had a dictator and yes he was often abusive to his

Yeah, you really think so? Did the movie show the recently dug up mass grave of 300,000 Iraqi citizens who were massacred by Saddam Hussein?, most of whom were annhilated during previous administrations, both Republican and Democratic? Did the Clinton, Bush I, and Reagan administrations turn a "blind eye" to such atrocities and violation of human rights, for any kind of political policy?

Did the movie, by any perchance, relate how illegal, under the table transactions provided weapons to Saddam via the Reagan and Bush I administrations, supposedly to combat Iran? Did it address how those very weapons were used to kill Americans in the Gulf War? Did it address, in any way, how previous administrations condoned via their silence, the massacre of the Kurdish Iraqis via outlawed "chemical weapons"?

If not, and I WON'T even venture into the Chemical Orange, or other atrocities committed in Vietnam, not to mention Korea, then WHY single out GWB as any more of a "criminal" than any other President in recent history?????

>

>Finally, I still have one question...... WHERE IS BIN

>LADDEN???? Why haven't we done anything to try and catch

Sheesh, you have really stepped off the edge of reality!!! Next thing I know, you'll be spouting glutes' paranoia about the anti-gay Nazis!

So now you KNOW all about the many faceted, many familial relations between Osama and all his hundreds of family members! How do you, and further how does this movie, implicate the Osama Bin Laden family members into any kind of "paranoia conspiracy"? Maybe they deserved to be evacuated, because paranoid people such as yourself, would demand that innocent people be lynched, just because one member of the family was guilty?

I only wonder at the naivete of people who CAN'T read, CAN'T think for themselves without some propaganisitic movie to guide their thoughts. If the movie portrayed Bush as the SAVIOR of the Christian world and all that is PURE, I'd bet you would be singing a different song! WAKE UP! and read the facts, and form at least a semi-intelligent opinion based on such pursuits. :(
