Rick Munroe
Look at these photos of sexy young twinks sucking, fucking and taking loads in their asses and mouths!!! I've already shot 3 loads from these sizzling xxx pics... Just kidding. And now that I have your attention... This is an action alert from Human Rights Campaign (moderators: please don't ship this to the Politics Forum; it's not about partisan politics, it's about the GLBT community under attack). Please, everyone, take a moment to make yourself heard: One of the very first acts of the new Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings, has been to denounce PBS for a cartoon show that featured two lesbian couples. Take action today to denounce her intolerance. "Postcards From Buster" is a PBS show, and a planned episode called Sugartime! took Buster to Vermont to see farms and maple sugar. Along the way he met two lesbian couples. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings denounced the episode, requested that PBS refund a federal grant that was used to pay for part of the show, and demanded that PBS remove any links from DOE to the show. She began as Secretary of Education on Monday, January 24 and one of her very first acts is to attack the GLBT community. Take action today! Here's what you can do: 1. Click here to send a message to Secretary Spellings to voice your disapproval: http://www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/education_secretary/ 2. Then, call the Department of Education to make a comment. Call 1-800-872-5327, and press 5 for an operator to make a general comment. 3. Show your support for PBS. Contact PBS and urge them to air the episode: http://www.pbs.org/aboutsite/aboutsite_emailform.html For more background information, please see HRC's press release at http://www.hrc.org Seth Kilbourn National Field Director

Rick Munroe
RE: Take action: Secretary of Education attacks GLBT community (from hrc.org) “The secretary’s first act in office denies children an education about the diversity of American families,” said HRC Political Director Winnie Stachelberg. “Teaching children about respect for differences promotes tolerance of their fellow human beings. Those are the values our children should be learning. Instead, Secretary Spellings is sending the message that differences should concealed. This creates a dangerous environment for children’s growth. Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth are disproportionately at risk for suicide. Creating a climate in which children are taught that differences should be feared does nothing to promote understanding for peers.” In a letter to PBS, Spellings wrote, “Congress’ and the department’s purpose in funding this programming certainly was not to introduce this kind of subject matter to children, particularly through the powerful and intimate medium of television.” The secretary asked for a refund “in the interest of avoiding embroiling the Ready-to-Learn program in a controversy that will only hurt” it. A department spokesperson said that PBS has been awarded almost $100 million over the past five years in a contract that expires in September. “The ‘subject matter’ is innocuous, but the secretary’s implication that teaching children about the reality of American life is cause for fear is harmful,” added Stachelberg. “Same-sex couples are raising children in almost every county in the nation. These families deserve just as much dignity and respect as their neighbors, and the children of America shouldn’t be denied the reality of our lives.” The full story is here: http://www.hrc.org/Template.cfm?Section=Press_Room&CONTENTID=24947&TEMPLATE=/ContentManagement/ContentDisplay.cfm
HotdadENYC
This is absolute bullshit. I had to check the date and time on your posting because for a moment there, I thought perhaps I had flashbacked to the early 1930's, location: Berlin. The US Government spends tons of money on questionable initiatives (but I guess that's another thread). I can't fathom the new Secretary's logic. Does she think that by requesting a refund of government funds used to produce this show that she is sending the right message? Is it her intention to cleanse the television experience for our "innocent" children? If that's the case, then she should enlist the help of the FCC and go after the History Channel (they aired a segment, prime time, about the widespread STD epidemic during the Civil War and it was quite candid) or prevent any BBC programming (a good deal of their shows depict mainstream gay and lesbian characters as part of the storyline). And why stop there? Why not go after the talk shows, one of which, due to air soon, poses the question "How Much Sex is Your Teen Having"? The tickler ads for this particular show were VERY candid ("...my friends are having sex all over the high school, whenever they can....") I'm sure I could find many more examples if I had the time to just flick through the television channels. My understanding of this PBS show is that it revolves around a trip to demonstrate how maple syrup is collected and there happens to be two lesbian couples as part of the cast. Nowhere have I seen any mention about dildos, vibrators or techniques for vaginal stimulation, the inclusion of which would render this particular episode a bit too dicey, even for my tastes. Not to mention what it would do to my use of genuine maple syrup on my pancakes. Rick, thanks for bringing this to our attention. I promise to be a bit more circumspect when I blast the bitch in the e-mail I'm going to send later tonight. hd NYC
Ryan
This reprehensible action does not surprise me at all. This is just the beginning, I'm afraid. Thank you Rick, for the alert and the link. It is one thing to complain, another to offer action. What is also disturbing is that PBS pretty much rolled over, acquiescing to this madness. Now is not the time for apathy, nor for procrastination. We must stop the erosion of sanity, tolerance and intelligence before it mounts.
Candyman
Why is anyone surprised by her actions. This is typical Bush and his hench men. She is also probalby scared not to do his bidding. Congressman Chis Smith ( are right wing right to lifer) that chaired the Veteren's Commission was booted off the commission for pushing for more benifits. His reward for not having his head buried deep in Bush's butt was his removal from his post. trilingual
America elected a fascist government in the clear and full knowledge what it was doing. Why is anyone surprised that the fascist government they elected is now acting exactly as it said it would? Hitler told everyone what he would do back in 1933, too. (Remember "Mein Kampf"?) That didn't stop Germans from voting him into power, and they couldn't claim to be surprised, later, when he did exactly what he said he'd do. Doug69
>Why is anyone surprised by her actions. This is typical Bush >and his hench men. The Senate Democrats voted unanimously to confirm her as Education Secretary. Why did the Democrats in the Senate -- all 44 of them -- vote to confirm a Nazi Fascist Murderer Hilteresque Hater Bigot Monster to an important position like Education Secretary? Doug69
>Hitler was popularly elected as well. He just cancelled all >future elections. But the opposition parties didn't support Hitler. Here, the Democrats unanimously voted to confirm the Education Scretary whom the people in this thread are saying is a Nazi Fascist murdering sicko concentration-camp-advocate. How come the Democrats did that?

If I remember correctly, you're one of the guys who really don't want an answer, but just in case you do - what choice did they have? They could have voted no to undergo the kinds of vicious assault the 13 senators who didn't vote for Condi Rice are now undergoing. They have been targeted by the Republicans for retaliation. Of course, who's surprised that the Republicans, coming off a victory, are more interested in punishing their opponents than in running the country? Bush chose this woman to fill the position. It's primarily our job, as gay men and people concerned with our place in American society, to fight the scum this woman represents. This is war and we can't expect congress to fight every battle. Rick Munroe
The family reacts: (from the Boston Globe) Karen Pike agreed to be a part of a children's show about families, and now she feels she's under attack. "It makes me sick," said Pike, a 42-year-old photographer in Hinesburg, Vt., who united with Pieper in a civil union in 2001. "I'm actually aghast at the hatred stemming from such an important person in our government. Her first official act was to denounce my family, and to denounce PBS for putting on a program that shows my family as loving, moral, and committed." The full story from the Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2005/01/27/fallout_from_postcards_decision/ By the way, 13 PBS stations, including WNET-TV in New York, declared that they would air the episode anyway. They could have voted no to undergo the kinds >of vicious assault the 13 senators who didn't vote for Condi >Rice are now undergoing. They have been targeted by the >Republicans for retaliation. Oh, I see - so the Democrats in the Senate voted to confirm a fascist Nazi monster hater because they were afraid that if they didn't, then Republicans would say mean things about them. How principled and courageous. That'a a real nice political party you got there. Of course, who's surprised that >the Republicans, coming off a victory, are more interested in >punishing their opponents than in running the country? The Republicans look pretty interested in running the country to me. That's how democracy works, though, as much as you may hate it. Democrats have lost 3 straight national elections; therefore, Democrats have no power. >Bush chose this woman to fill the position. It's primarily >our job, as gay men and people concerned with our place in >American society, to fight the scum this woman represents. >This is war and we can't expect congress to fight every >battle. LOL!!! Yes, I know that as a gay man, I feel that it is absolutely incumbent upon me to fight against Condoleeza Rice because of all the homophobic, anti-gay things she's done and said, such as . . . .ummm. . . . . well, y'know . . . us gay men and lesbians simply MUST fight her!!!!!!! Are you trying to discredit liberals by pretending to be one and then turning yourself into a cartoon? If so, that's not a very nice thing to do, but honesty compels me to say what a good job you are doing!

noviceny
Im really at a loss here. I am trying to get my mind around the issues at hand here, but there is so much bashing and hatred that I feel embarassed to be part of that group. I will take the advice to fight against this intolerance and use Rick's link to send a letter. I will also continue to work with youth to promote tolerance. Guys, on some fronts we are winning over people with hardened hearts. I have always found that the anger that I have seen here does nothing to champion our cause. My family is mostly Republican and the way I have expressed my opinions to them is through stories of my work in the community and where our funding comes from. My Dad will never change his position and isnt that pleased that I am gay, but I really think that he believes he is doing the right thing. In his everyday life he tries his 70 year old Catholic Irish American best, to be kind to people and help where he can. I know that you might hate him for what he believes, and maybe his thinking is flawed, but he is trying to be the best person he can be. I have wondered the same amount our elected officials. Are they truly grounded in evil or are they doing what they truly believe to be right ? Doesnt mean we shouldnt fight for what we believe is right...it only means that our anger may not be as righteous as we think. Doug may be a bit biting, but he's one of the few non-"sheeple" (using a quasi-Quayleism, if I've ever seen one) who actually takes time to point his finger and comment about the lack of clothes. Also, people, this is site about dollars for dicks, cash for cock, hundreds for a hole, and although this folder is for poltics, etc., don't take everything so fucking seriously. I can only imagine what some of you would do in an actual emergency. Whenever there is disagreement from the "party" line, everyone pulls a nutty. For what it's worth. Later. PS.
