Hey folks,

Aparently Alan Keyes is running against Barrack Obama for the Illinois Senate seat. Alan Keyes is the conservative Maryland radio talkshow host, who was a Republican Presidential Candidate in 2000.

Is he a threat to Obama? I'm anxious to hear what everyone thinks.

Personally I hope not.

Do not worry. Obama will win big here and even do well downstate. Keyes will win the die hards and rightwing bible thumpers but that is about it. Midwesterners do not take kindly to carpetbaggers and Illinois has also become a very politically moderate state. Keyes is so conservative he even hates himself.

As a person with condos in Miami Beach and Chicago, I am having trouble deciding where I want my vote. I do feel that Obama will win, but then I remember how Chicago treated Harold Washington and Cook Copunty is the most liberal part of IL.

But I think I will end up staying down in FL. for the election. We have to ensure that The Bush brothers don't steal another election.

>As a person with condos in Miami Beach and Chicago, . . . .

If that isn't a statement on how ANYTHING is possible in America, I don't know what is.

I thought you were such an extreme, "proud" liberal? Haven't you heard that there is severe child poverty and starvation in America and the world? Many children are homeless. Others have no health insurance. Some can't afford nutritional food.

And yet, here you are, hogging up all of this material wealth by maintining two condominiums in two cities, with all the costs associated with flying back and forth, etc. Who knows how much more profligate waste there is in your abundant, luxurious life.

How can you justify hording so much while others have so little? Shouldn't you be sharing the wealth? Or do you think that as long as you tell yourself how sad it is as you ride past the slums in your cab on your way from O'Hare to your downtown condo that you are "doing" something for the poor?

I am

In case you haven't heard, it's not 1979 anymore. In case you haven't heard, all mayors of big cities end up the target of vicious, hard-core attacks, not just black ones. In case you haven't heard, Illinois had a black Senator quite recently. In case you haven't heard, it's hard to think of anything more patronizing than to hear someone like you say they're not sure that a nice young black boy should be Senator even though he thinks he should be because you think he can't handle the hostility that you think the mean, bad white people will direct at him.

Haven't you heard? You really should read some more of the posts by glutes, BoN and Trilingual. It doesn't matter if you vote in Florida. They won't count it. And even if they do count it, the U.S. Supreme Court will just award Bush the Presidency again. And if all that doesn't work, Bush will order another terrorist attack on the U.S. and then declare martial law and be dictator for life.

So don't bother.

And when exactly did your convoluted little brain decide it was a crime to be successful? If he can own two condos in different parts of the country - good on him! And it's entirely possible that two condos could collectivly cost a great deal LESS than one home.

I think the green monster called jealousy is sitting on your shoulder. Give it a swipe!

You missed the point completely, so I'll say it a little more slowly this time.

I believe in capitalism. I am a political conservative and a fan of the free market, so I think that there is nothing wrong with owning 100 condominiums all over the world if a person is able to obtain the money legally to do so.

But extremist liberals like him claim to think that vast disparities in wealth are bad and that we should use government to take away money from the rich and give it to the poor ("let's raise taxes on the rich and give more to the poor"). People like him love to advocate this, but their actions reflect a selfishness and an indifference to the poor about whom they claim to care so much.

Get it now?

You know I love ya. I finally stopped laughing out loud after reading your response to my post here. Yes, I am aware that Carol Mosely Braun was a US Senator in IL. In fact, I know her. But I also know she got in on Anita Hill's coat tails. No Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas controversy, no Sen. Braun.

I keep forgetting that you don't like people with money. What happenned??? Did some rich person get a table before you at your favorite restaurant???

I am not rich, just smart. As far as what I should or shouldn't be doing for the poor???? You do not know me. You do not know what I have done for the poor or homeless. So I find it odd that you feel you can past judgement on how much I have done. To be sure, I have done more than most people and given more than most who have more than I do.

But we do agree on one issue. Bush will try to steel the election again. :+
